Life Leading Up to the Turkettes!

Life before the Turkettes was busy! Teaching, sports, traveling...all my husband Shawn and I had was time! Time to do whatever we wanted! Then in April of 2012 we found out we were pregnant and the excitement began. We announced the great news to our parents on Mother's Day! The weeks following we shared the news with a few good friends, including a few jokes with our friend Lori that Shawn believed I was so efficient and good at multi-tasking that I was having twins. Imagine our surprise when our ultrasound results showed TWO BABIES! Baby A and Baby B had entered our world and we were shocked.

The purpose of the Turkette Blog is to allow our friends and family to follow our journey with the Turkettes and to allow other twin parents to learn from our experiences!

After announcing our twin pregnancy to our family and friends we were overwhelmed by all the love and support we received! After reading "Juggling Twins: The Best Tips, Tricks, and Strategies From Pregnancy to the Toddler Years" by Meghan Regan-Loomis (a great book for future twin parents, give to be by another M.O.M...Mommy of Multiples) One of the suggestions in her book was to have a Diaper Party! Not only did we have a HUGE diaper party, but we also revealed the gender of the Turkettes through a cake cutting reveal! Thanks to our good friend Paul Federici's girlfriend Fab for making some awesome cakes!

The diaper party was one of the more brilliant pre-baby ideas we had. We turned our 10th annual Labour Day Weekend Party from "Bring a Chair and Something to Share" into "Bring a Chair and some diapers". Thanks to the generosity of our friends and family, we were stocked with thousands (not kidding) of diapers from Preemie to Size 5!

Another great pre-baby idea we had was getting involved with POMBA Niagara. The Parents of Multiple Births Association of Niagara is an awesome network of parents of multiples that offered us many resources and advice for our countless questions!! (http://www.nrpomba.com/)

Finally we took many pictures of my ever growing belly!! 38 weeks and 65lbs later, I was bursting and it was time for the Turkettes to arrive!!
